NEED A SINGLE VERT--BLENDER TIPS & TRICKS

How many times have you been in Blender needing a single vertex to begin a project?

They way I was taught, make cube, select all but one vertices then delete the ones you don't need.  The problem with this is you had to move the vertex to center afterwards. It was rather messy but worked.

The following method is one I just learned a Beginning Blender course from CGCookies.com. You may want to check out their site since it is filled with various educational information.

Anyway, here is the trick I found....

CREATING A SINGLE VERTEX THE EASY WAY
  • Start your scene/project
  • Shift-C to Center your Cursor (I always start at Center)
  • Shift-A to bring up the add mesh menu
  • Select and add a Plane (keep it highlighted)
  • Tab to Edit mode
  • Hit your W key
  • Select  Merge > At Center
Now you have a single Vertex centered in your single!
