Welcome To Hell House Design

This is a re-post from our Hell House Design Blog, which  is being incorporated into the umbrella group of Hell House Studios for easier maintenance and to better serve ALL of our customers.

Hell House Design is a tiny building and design business in a virtual world known as Second Life (SL).  You can visit their web page at http://secondlife.com.

There is differing opinions whether SL is a game or a social networking platform.   Each SL Resident will have their own opinoin on the subject, and there are as many opinions as their are residents in-world.  Whatever you call it, it can be quite fun or frustrating. Second Life, and it does require some getting use to.  There is a rather high learning curve, although SL has tried to remedy this over the years with different viewer configurations.

For me, SL is quite fascinating and I have been a resident for close to 7 years now.  While gets old from time to time, there is always something to do, explore, or learn 24/7, 365 days a years.  However, like anything else, it does require a time investment.

The purpose and goal of this particular blog is twofold, 1) to showcase new builds being released for sale in-world and SL Marketplace. through Hell House Design, 2) share some "HOW TOs" to enrich your SL experience.

Currently, I am undertaking the tedious task of trying to make clothes for Second Life. It is a skill that has eluded me for a long time. To make clothes, requires understanding of UV modeling maps and using a photo graphics program to create textures that over lay these maps to create clothing. You can create these textures in programs, such as Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Elements, Gimp and other programs that will allow you to save your texture as either .png, bmp, jpeg, or tga (.png and .tga are used for clothing for transparency sake).  It is a daunting task, for me at least, to learn a graphics program and wrap my heard around 3D modeling concepts. But, what is life if we can't continue to learn?

Anyway, I know that "How Tos for SL" is something that is in demand by so many seeking to learn things particular to the SL environment. There are numerous blogs, forum posts/discussion and www.youtube.com videos out there made by SL residents that are quite useful. I hope from time to time to post some of those that I have found helpful so you too can check them out to see if it is useful to you as well.

So, while this will never be an all inclusive site, I do hope to provide you information, as I can, that might help you in your journey. For now, I will be concentrating on my search on "How To Make Clothing" I like in SL and share that with you.
